Job Summary

The Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty member in any business domain area to assume the role of Director of Undergraduate Programs. The position begins July 1, 2017. This is a three-year, appointment and is renewable contingent upon satisfactory performance, funding and continued need.

The successful candidate will help meet growth and continuous improvement objectives to ensure rigor and relevance of Undergraduate Programs. The Director will meet with prospective students and parents to discuss the program, advise students throughout their time at Lally, oversee the scheduling of all undergraduate courses, interact with Career Services to ensure students are provided adequate counseling and support for life after Rensselaer, and work to promote a vigorous Lally student culture and community. In addition, the Undergraduate Director will monitor the undergraduate program curriculum and extra-curricular activities to insure the School is delivering the most up-to-date, responsive education possible. The position also includes teaching responsibilities of two courses per year.

Qualifications Appointment may be at the Lecturer or Professor of Practice level .

Those considered for a Lecturer appointment must possess a terminal degree in business, law, or other closely related field, along with evidence of teaching effectiveness at the collegiate level. Those with professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant or other business related designation, who also possess substantive experience as a practicing professional at a senior level in the relevant field may also be.

To be appointed as a Professor of Practice, candidates must meet the educational and teaching requirements for the Lecturer, and must possess substantial leadership experience, of at least 10 years, in the field of expertise, along with a national or international reputation for excellence in the field. Candidates are expected to be able to provide instruction in a range of courses representing their field.
